Vanderbilt women’s health clinic to debut in Lebanon

Access to women’s health and midwifery services is now more convenient than ever for Lebanon and Wilson County residents with the opening of the new Center for Women’s Health Lebanon outpatient clinic, set to open Sept. 9.

Located at 1616 West Main St. in suite 101 as part of Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital (VWCH), the clinic will provide general gynecology services such as Pap smears, well-woman visits and breast exams along with specialty gynecology services, including abnormal bleeding, endometriosis, fibroids, infertility and contraceptive care.

The clinic will also provide prenatal and pregnancy care, including parenting education and high-risk pregnancy care, with deliveries and surgeries performed at VWCH. The location will offer a new model of midwifery care that is different than what has previously existed at VWCH and a broad spectrum of gynecologic care that is fully integrated and supported by subspecialty services within Vanderbilt Health’s larger clinical network.

“We are excited about opening a new OB-GYN practice in Wilson County and supporting the health care needs of women where they live and work,” said Ronald Alvarez, MD, MBA, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The clinic, which will operate Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., will initially be staffed by four full-time midwives, two full-time physicians and one part-time physician, with another full-time physician starting in 2021. Two of the physicians and two of the midwives are new hires, with the other providers having previously served at other locations within the Vanderbilt Health network.

The Lebanon location is the second Center for Women’s Health location in Wilson County, joining the Center for Women’s Health Mt. Juliet clinic, which opened in February 2019.
